 | Tsunami and seismic sea waves. Long
wavelength, shallow water, progressive waves caused by the rapid displacement of ocean
water are called tsunami (Japanese: tsu=harbor , nami=wave). Tsunami caused by seismic
activities are therefor called seismic sea waves.
