green chair
with oaky armrests, wide comfortable looking
is parked next to me in the math classroom
Reserved For Berta Holtz a bold sign says
sticking out from the classroom's conformity.
The seat is woven green manmade material,
Its area three times my chair's sitting area.
A rip in the green plastic back cushion
shamelessly displays a white fir frame.
Sturdy legs chromed dust layered by time
a strong metal support made to hold a ton.
Expecting a baby elephant trampling into class
and placing her weight next to me onto this
the chrome plastic and wood resting area
I move to the outer limits of the desk.
Berta is: late 110 lbs handicapped.
I am disappointed. She could have easily
fit on me the pretty armless polished chair.
